Securing a Grade A Officer position at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) requires navigating one of the most highly competitive recruitment processes in the country. Because these apex financial institutions utilize testing infrastructure identical to major banking boards, their online registration portals enforce uncompromising automated filters for all document uploads.
Unlike many standard exams that only require a basic photograph and signature, both SEBI and NABARD mandate a comprehensive four-document upload. If your handwritten declaration is illegible due to over-compression, or if your thumb impression lacks clear biometric ridges, your application will be instantly stalled. Here is a definitive guide to preparing these four files correctly.
1. The Handwritten Declaration (50 - 100 KB)
The handwritten declaration is a legally binding statement verifying that all submitted information is authentic, and it serves as a biometric handwriting sample for future verification stages. The required upload dimension is 800 pixels wide by 400 pixels high. The file weight must be maintained strictly between 50 KB and 100 KB.
- Language and Formatting: The declaration must be written entirely in the English language. It must be written using a black ink pen. Writing in any other color apart from black will not be accepted by the portal.
- The Golden Casing Rule: You must write the declaration in your natural, running handwriting. Declarations written in capital letters will not be accepted. Submitting a block-letter document results in guaranteed disqualification because it defeats the purpose of handwriting analysis.
- Avoiding Artifacts: Do not overwrite words or use correction fluid. Write on a blank, unruled white sheet. Lined paper interacts poorly with JPEG compression algorithms, causing the file size to inflate and the ink to appear blurred.
2. The Left Thumb Impression (LTI)
The Left Thumb Impression (LTI) is utilized for biometric verification at the exam center. The file must be cropped to exactly 240 pixels by 240 pixels. The allowed file size is between 20 KB and 50 KB.
You may place your left thumb impression on white paper using black or blue ink. The most frequent error applicants make is applying excessive physical pressure to the ink pad. Pressing down too hard causes the ink to flood the microscopic grooves of your fingerprint, resulting in a solid, unreadable dark blob upon scanning. To achieve a crisp print, tap your thumb lightly onto the ink pad and roll it gently from edge to edge on the paper.
3. Photograph Guidelines (200x230 Pixels)
Your passport photograph requires a dimension of 200 pixels wide by 230 pixels high, with a file size bound between 20 KB and 50 KB.
The photograph should be a recent, colour, passport-size image against a light-coloured (preferably white) background. Ensure there are no harsh shadows across your face. If you wear glasses, verify that there are no reflections or glare obscuring your eyes. Hats, caps, and dark tinted glasses are universally unacceptable.
4. The Restrictive Signature Limit (10 - 20 KB)
The signature file features the smallest geometric and kilobyte allowance in the application. It must fit a 140x60 pixel bounding box, and the file size must be brutally compressed to sit between 10 KB and 20 KB.
Because a maximum limit of 20 KB strips away considerable digital detail, you must sign on plain white paper using a black ink pen. A thick black gel pen ensures the ink lines remain thick and readable after compression. As with the declaration, signatures in capital letters will not be accepted.
