LIC & NIACL Applications: Strict Formatting for Insurance Exams

1. Photograph Dimensions and Clarity

The insurance portals require your passport photograph to be exactly 200 pixels wide by 230 pixels high. The file size must be strictly bounded between 20 KB and 50 KB.

• Background Color: The background must be a solid, light color. Plain white is highly recommended to ensure the highest contrast. Dark or patterned backgrounds will cause the AI screening tool to reject the image.
• Facial Visibility: Your face should cover approximately 75% of the frame. You must look directly into the camera with a relaxed, neutral expression. Red-eye effects caused by camera flashes must be edited out prior to uploading.
• Eyewear Rules: If you wear prescription spectacles, ensure there are no reflections on the lenses. Dark glasses, tinted lenses, hats, and caps are completely prohibited.

2. The 10-20 KB Signature Challenge

The signature upload is where candidates face the highest rejection rate. The signature must be cropped to 140 pixels wide by 60 pixels high, and compressed into an incredibly restrictive 10 KB to 20 KB limit.

Because the maximum allowed size is only 20 KB, aggressive compression can easily destroy the ink lines. To avoid this, always sign on unruled, pure white paper using a thick black gel pen. A bold black line survives JPEG compression much better than thin blue ink. Furthermore, you must sign in a running hand—signatures in ALL CAPS will disqualify your application.

3. Overcoming Portal Errors

Many candidates attempt to use native OS tools like MS Paint to resize these files, resulting in distorted aspect ratios.
